Was trying to make up my mind to either go north to the Poconos or South. I made the right call with 3 Firsts for me. It was amazing day for me check out my finds!!! BTW I have been looking for a hognose now for years so I was excited...

Thanks so much for watching my not so great edited videos cant believe I actually hit 100 Subs, Haven't had much time to herp but I got out some here is some Video and some Pictures of some stuff I saw through the last few weeks and what not. A little bit of everything.

Doing some trail hiking with my wife and spotted this pretty well camouflaged Copperhead.

a small compilation of some cool water snakes I found this year so far. By far some of the more entertaining snakes I find.

Its been so dam hot and boiling out around here in the east coast . But I sucked it up and went North had a nice day low temps and made out well. Check out my finds.....

Hey everyone, a surprise update that was a surprise even to me! I never saw any egg laying take place, but it happened at some point and here is one new eft morph that has just left the water and ready to transition to a terrestrial life. This newt is very tiny, just barely an inch long, so taking care of it will be a bit of a challenge.

A short little video on my newly acquired blue tailed firebelly newts (Cynops cyanurus). They're already growing pretty quickly and they don't take long to mature. The male gets a blue coloration on its tail during breeding season. These guys are very alert and notice me right away, and they eat very well.
Also, I did a video on a "nursery" tank that I was building, however it became obvious the tank should be used for my fire belly newts.
I'll be doing a video on setting up the new tank, so stay tuned!

My first video! Taking the time to feed my newts in their 55 gallon semi aquatic setup. I currently have one male and one female in the tank, but recently acquired two more that are currently in temporary quarantine. The two newts featured in the video are currently going through their winter cooling period. When Spring arrives, perhaps I'll see courting and eventually eggs, hopefully. I'll be doing many more videos and updates on these guys and eventually do a care guide on these hardy newts!

This guide will have to be split into a few parts due to my 10 minute video limit. This is a care guide on the Eastern Newt (Notophthalmus viridescens viridescens). I'm going into as much detail as possible on housing, feeding, and breeding. The next part of the video will touch on housing for the red eft and wrap up with feeding and breeding. The Eastern newt is my favorite newt, the one that got me hooked on newts and salamanders so I thought it would be appropriate to do my first guide on them.

This is my new Cynops cyanurus setup. I transformed the nursery into their new setup as it was just the practical thing to do. I used a layer of aquatic soil and a nutrient layer of clay gravel for the plants to be able to root and extract more nutrients. Cynops cyanurus are beautiful newts and the male gets a blue coloration during breeding season.
