Hey everyone, a surprise update that was a surprise even to me! I never saw any egg laying take place, but it happened at some point and here is one new eft morph that has just left the water and ready to transition to a terrestrial life. This newt is very tiny, just barely an inch long, so taking care of it will be a bit of a challenge.

Great information on tank mates and housing!

A short little video on my newly acquired blue tailed firebelly newts (Cynops cyanurus). They're already growing pretty quickly and they don't take long to mature. The male gets a blue coloration on its tail during breeding season. These guys are very alert and notice me right away, and they eat very well.
Also, I did a video on a "nursery" tank that I was building, however it became obvious the tank should be used for my fire belly newts.
I'll be doing a video on setting up the new tank, so stay tuned!

The last part of the Eastern Newt Care Guide! This section talks about how we can accomplish breeding! Breeding our newts is very important to the hobby. It decreases the dependency on wild caught newts so that we don't hurt local populations. I strongly encourage any newt and salamander keepers to engage in breeding if possible. As always, do as much research as possible and keep the hobby going!

Thanks to everyone who has subscribed so far. I apologize for such a long break in between uploads. I have a few things to deal with, but I hope to get back into uploading regularly soon.

That said, here is another care guide that I hope everyone finds useful. This time, its the Spanish ribbed newt. This newt is very popular in the pet trade and widely kept. They're famous for being able to stick out its ribs through its skin, acting as a defense against predators.

The Spanish Ribbed Newt is a popular newt in the pet trade and is widely bred among keepers of this species. They are what would be considered a beginner newt.

My first video! Taking the time to feed my newts in their 55 gallon semi aquatic setup. I currently have one male and one female in the tank, but recently acquired two more that are currently in temporary quarantine. The two newts featured in the video are currently going through their winter cooling period. When Spring arrives, perhaps I'll see courting and eventually eggs, hopefully. I'll be doing many more videos and updates on these guys and eventually do a care guide on these hardy newts!

Hey everyone! I decided to revisit another older video now that the channel has picked up a bit and made a more clear and concise, more in depth video on the benefits of breeding your newts and salamanders! This video also addresses the importance of participating in captive breeding. If you are able, I strongly recommend breeding your animals to keep the hobby going strong. Breeding our newts or salamanders is no easy task and it should be no secret either. We need to reduce the dependency on wild caught animals and help conserve those populations as well.
*Oddly enough, a towards the end there is a point where some audio gets cut off mid sentence.

This guide will have to be split into a few parts due to my 10 minute video limit. This is a care guide on the Eastern Newt (Notophthalmus viridescens viridescens). I'm going into as much detail as possible on housing, feeding, and breeding. The next part of the video will touch on housing for the red eft and wrap up with feeding and breeding. The Eastern newt is my favorite newt, the one that got me hooked on newts and salamanders so I thought it would be appropriate to do my first guide on them.

Hey everyone, finally back! I've been busy lately, but it's time to get back into it! I had another video planned originally, but this one ended up happening first. In this video we get to see some more lungless stream dwelling salamanders and this time the target is the Northern dusky salamander. They have a stocky build and have a muddy brown coloration with white flecks along the belly. They can get up to 4 1/2 inches, so it can be quite a big salamander!

Hey everyone! Its been a busy week with the salamander migration in full swing and getting some footage for the documentary. But, I'm back with another video, this time featuring my juvenile California newts (Taricha Torosa). These newts are wonderful and eager to eat! They're easily confused with rough skinned newt (Taricha granulosa) due to how similar they look. Taricha torosa is more terrestrial. These little ones are feeding on white worms and fruit flies at the moment. It'll take about 4 - 5 years for them to mature, so they have a lot of growing to do!

This is my new Cynops cyanurus setup. I transformed the nursery into their new setup as it was just the practical thing to do. I used a layer of aquatic soil and a nutrient layer of clay gravel for the plants to be able to root and extract more nutrients. Cynops cyanurus are beautiful newts and the male gets a blue coloration during breeding season.
